ActionAid Kenya Team Runs for Climate Action at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

ActionAid Kenya celebrated an inspiring achievement this weekend as its dedicated team of staff successfully completed the 5K, 10K, and 21K races at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2025. The team’s strong performance on the track symbolized the same endurance, teamwork, and long-term commitment that define ActionAid’s work across Kenya.

Running under the theme “Save Our Planet,” the ActionAid Kenya team dedicated their participation to raising awareness about the urgent need for climate action and environmental sustainability. Their involvement highlighted the organization’s ongoing initiatives to support communities affected by climate change and to advocate for policies that promote a greener, more resilient future.

“Crossing the finish line together was more than a physical victory, it was a statement of our shared responsibility to protect our planet,” said Samson Orao, Interim Executive Director at ActionAid Kenya. “Every step we took reflected our ongoing work to empower communities, champion sustainable livelihoods, and build climate resilience across Kenya.”

One of the key objectives of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2025 aligns strongly with ActionAid Kenya’s environmental mission of sustaining the environment. This shared commitment reinforces the vital connection between sports, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

Through their participation, the ActionAid Kenya team demonstrated that meaningful change begins with collective action on and off the racetrack. Their run for climate action stands as a powerful reminder that protecting our planet requires both persistence and partnership.
