ABOUT ACTIONAID INTERNATIONAL KENYA
ActionAid International Kenya (AAIK) is a non-partisan, non-religious development organization that has been working in Kenya since 1972 to end poverty and injustices. ActionAid International Kenya is among the leading anti-poverty agencies in Kenya having presence in 22 counties working directly with over one million people living in poverty and exclusion. AAIK is un-apologetic in advancing Women’s Rights and ensuring that Women Living in Poverty and Exclusion are at the centre of its work. AAIK commits to work with Women, Children and Young people living in poverty and exclusion to claim and realize their constitutional rights through working within four main pillars of Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA); empowerment, solidarity, campaigning and alternatives. AAIK is committed to undertaking all its work in a manner which does not put children or vulnerable adults at risk. All contractors and consultants are informed of their contractual and moral responsibilities to safeguard children, young people, and vulnerable adults in all areas of ActionAid’s work.
The Organisation seeks to provide comprehensive medical insurance cover for its employees and their eligible dependants. The medical cover is intended to support staff wellbeing, enhance employee benefits, and ensure access to quality healthcare services in line with the Organisation’s human resource policies.
Objective
The objective of this TOR is to engage a reputable medical insurance provider to offer comprehensive medical cover for the Organization’s staff population for a defined policy period.
Scope of Medical Cover
The medical insurance cover shall include, but not be limited to, the following components:
- In-patient services
- Out-patient services
- Dental services
- Optical services
- Maternity services
The cover shall be provided on a per family basis in accordance with the benefit limits specified below.
Insured Population
The estimated insured population is as follows:

Note: The population numbers may vary slightly during the policy period due to staff movement.
Benefit Limits
The proposed minimum benefit limits are as follows

Service Requirements
The insurance provider shall be required to:
- Provide access to an adequate and reputable hospital and service provider network
- Offer efficient claims processing and approval turnaround times
- Provide a dedicated account manager
- Conduct staff sensitisation and onboarding sessions
- Provide utilisation and claims reports on a periodic basis
- Ensure compliance with applicable insurance and regulatory requirements
Policy Period
The medical insurance cover shall be provided for a period of twelve (12) months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
